“Environmentally Conscious”…what the heck does that mean? Well, let’s be honest. Most of the time you hear the phrase, it’s probably marketing bullshit. But not this time. And certainly not from us. We took locally grown Salmon-Safe pilsner malt from Mainstem Malting out of Walla Walla, WA, and threw in gallons and gallons of spent hop sludge from our triple dry-hopped Pomp & Frills in order to give them a chance at a new life! Yup, that’s right. The hopping in this beer is all done with second-generation hops. Meaning they have been through the wringer in a previous beer – yet people don’t realize that they still retain shitloads of flavor oil and aromatics. Brewers usually separate this sludge out for compost, give it to farms, or simply send them down the drain. But, what a waste of flavor! Plus, Upcycling our hops allows us to offer a 4pack of bangin’ beer for just $13.99. Oh, and “what is Salmon Safe”, you ask? It’s a certification that ensures the grains are grown in a way that avoids excess tilling which leads to runoff, that allows no irrigation beyond what mother nature offers, and that requires crop cycling considerations for giving back to the soil.
