Syrah was the grape that got Luke into wine from the start. Releases of Sean Thackery’s “Pleiades” and “Orion” were the inspiration to become a winemaker.
“Primus Dominus Mortis” is the first of three Syrah based wines Lares produced in 2022. Both the Syrah and Pinot Noir were picked, fermented, and aged separately. The wines were blended before bottling with very minimal intervention throughout the entire process.
Sean passed away on May 30, 2022. This series of wines is to honor the role he played in my life.
